Bar. Mohammed Sani Katu, the chairman of Electoral Committee saddled with the responsibility of conducting the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, election later in the year,  has said that the NFF has given the committee freedom to work with no interference in the process of the election.

Bar. Katu was of the firm opinion that the members of the electoral committee will discharge their duties in honesty , integrity, credibility governed by the rules and regulations administering football as contained in the NFF statutes and approved by FIFA, the world’s ruling football body.

“There is no way that the NFF will control the electoral committee. There shall be no interference from the NFF I can assure Nigerians. Honesty , integrity and credibility are the fundamental guidelines of every election and members of this electoral committee are equal to this task, ” Bar. Katu said.

” NFF has given the committee freedom to work and I don’t think we will experience any problem. Truth is always one . There is no way we can mix the truth with other things. Truth is constant and every election will always have a winner and a loser,” he added.

” Those that will converge as the electorates are already known to us . Ours is to conduct the election in a peacefully manner without rancour and count the votes openly and after that, make an announcement of the winners and the losers.

“I want to inform Nigerians that there shall be changes this time around. I have studied the past elections of the NFF and we will avoid the painful experience of the past. We are working with every football stakeholder and we are not leaving anyone outside in the proceeding of conducting a credible NFF election,” he said.

Other members of the electoral body are Mr. Sani Salawu, Barrister S. C. A. Umeha, Barrister Olusola Oke and Mr. Mohammed Manzo, while the NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, is the secretary. Standby members are Hon. Isong Isang and Barrister Mohammed Aliyu Sambo.

It is likely that the electoral body will commence the sale of forms for different positions on the board of the NFF from next week. The forms for being a board member can be purchased with N250,000.00, while for 1st Vice President is N300,000.00 and the ultimate position of President of the NFF goes for N350,000.00.
