Nigeria Is In Dire Need Of Serious Gas Investors As Africa’s Largest Gas Producer – Ekperikpe Ekpo

The Honourable Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo, has assured Nigerians of his commitment to resolving all challenges suffocating the efficient gas supplies to consumers in the country.

While addressing Senior Management of Shell Petroleum Development Company Nigeria in a meeting in his office, the Honourable Minister stated that Nigeria is ripe with vast opportunities in the gas sector whose untapped potentials is a gateway to a growing demand for clean energy.

He reiterated that focus would be given to promoting the gas value chain and making gas available as a source of fuel to the auto, power and industrial consumers and that serious investors are needed to actualize this vision.

Ekpo stated that Nigeria is richly endowed with Gas Resources and immense potential for growth and development in this sector, therefore investing in our gas industry will not only contribute to our economic progress but also promote cleaner energy sources. However, the Minister noted that “Nigeria need serious and committed gas investors to fuel our nation’s progress and to develop the natural gas reserves for national prosperity”.

Ekpo advised that the gas sector should capitalize on this opportunity for a sustainable and greener future.Conversly, he assured the Management Staff of Shell Company Nigeria that the Federal Government is giving top priority to the gas sector given its potential to drive energy security and the economy in all aspects.

Responding to the Honourable Minister’s speech, 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗼 𝗗𝗲 𝗝𝗼𝗻𝗴, – Shell SVP, said the company was already working on studies related to the growth of its gas subsidiary Shell Energy.

Noting that various Shell personnel were assisting the government in different capacities, one of which is the Decade of Gas Secretariat being headed by a Shell staff.
