Nigerian Ambassador, Others Unveil Osun Agric Exhibition Show In Israel

The plans to organise the largest agricultural technology exhibition and conference in Africa in the State of Osun is gradually becoming a reality.

The event tagged “Agritech Nigeria Osun 2018”, which will hold in Osogbo from 20-22 November, was unveiled during the 20th edition of Agritech Israel, one of the largest agricultural shows in the world. Agritech Israel took place at the Tel Aviv International Convention Centre, Tel Aviv, Israel between 8 and 10 May, 2018.

Agritech Nigeria Osun 2018, the first Nigeria’s largest Exhibition and Conference on agriculture, farm machineries, dairy, poultry, water technology, livestock equipment, agriculture processing technologies and environmental control,  is being organized by the Government of the State of Osun, Fesco Agalu Enterprises Nigeria Limited, Kenes Exhibition (organiser of Agritech Israel) and Sifax Group of Companies.

The unveiling was attended by the Nigerian Ambassador to Israel, His Excellency, Enoch Pear Duchi, Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Water Resources, Mr Musa Wen Ibrahim, Director of Irrigation and Drainage, Federal Ministry of Water Resources, Engr. Aderibigbe, Director General of National Agricultural Seeds Council, Dr. Olusegun Ojo, Fesco Agalu Enterprises Nigeria Limited led by Mr Yahaya Majeed, Sifax Group of Companies’ representative, Mr Muyiwa Akande (Corporate Affairs Manager). Government of the State of Osun was represented by the Special Adviser on Agriculture and Food Security to the Governor, Hon Claudius Kolajo, Coordinating Director, Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Dr Bukola Aluko, Coordinator, Anchor Borrower Programme, State of Osun, Mr Sanmi Bamidele, delegation from Nigeria and a host of agricultural machinery companies in Israel.

Kenes Exhibition was represented by its CEO, Avi Rosner and General Manager, Ms Prema Zilberman at the event.

Ambassador Duchi told the gathering that the Agritech Nigeria Osun 2018 event is coming at a period when the Federal Government of Nigeria believes agriculture is the solution to the problem of food security the country is facing. He added that Nigerians need modern technologies to take agriculture to the next level.

According to him, Nigeria stands to gain a lot from Israel, a country that had faced lots of challenges in the past, but could still weather the storm to be a powerhouse of modern agriculture in the world today.

“I want to assure prospective exhibitors, visitors and every participant that Nigeria is a land of opportunities with huge market. To every Israeli company that wants to come for Agritech Nigeria Osun 2018 event, the Embassy of Nigeria is ready to assist in making it easier to go to Nigeria. I also want to assure the organisers that at the Embassy level, we will take up the marketing of Agritech Nigeria Osun 2018 event in Israel to mobilise as many companies as possible to this great event, ” the Ambassador said.

To the Executive Director, Agritech Nigeria, Mr Yahaya, the event is packaged in line with the vision of the organisers of Agritech Israel to rejig and modernise agricultural practises in Nigeria.” We are bringing the best of agriculture technologies in the world to Nigeria. Nigeria has vast land where agriculture can thrive but we are short of modern technology. That is the reason we want to assemble companies around the world to come to Nigeria to showcase their new technological developments in agriculture.

“This will be a gathering of more than 400,000 visitors all over the world to discuss business opportunities in agriculture. It is an event where Africans will meet their European counterparts without necessary travel to Europe. It is a platform for investors meeting to discuss businesses of mutual business, ” Mr Yahaya said.

In his presentation, the Coordinator, Anchor Borrower Programme, Mr Bamidele highlighted major opportunities in the State of Osun and major achievements of the Government of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola in agriculture. He reiterated the Governor’s commitment to the organisation of Agritech Nigeria Osun 2018 event. He said the people and the Government of the State of Osun is ready to host the world in November.
