Nigeria’s Olamide Aims High In Film Industry In The US

Ondo State born Olamide Oladimeji has described his exploits in film industry in the United States of America (USA) as career he is determined to take to the next level.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that having graduated from University of Lagos with his Bachelor degree honours in 2013 set, Olamide has embarked on a different route to pursue his dreams. He studied Cinematography at the New York Film Academy, Los Angeles and graduated in 2015 with a Diploma which has served as a foundation for his current exploits.

In the past years, Olamide has been shooting more of narratives in form of short films and TV pilots. Some of his projects have been hugely successful in the festival circle, one of his most successful ones is a Japanese drama written and directed by compatriot Paul Okpuno.

The short film has gone on to be screened and won awards in different countries across the world in nations such as the US, Poland, Iran and others.

“I want to become a household name in the industry in no distance future, ” Olamide, who studied Psychology at the University of Lagos told P.M.EXPRESS during a chat recently.

Another project of his still making festival rounds is The Boy in The Mirror, a drama which features a 24-year-old man, who is having a split personality with his 6 years old self.

The project has won the Brazilian writer and Director Fernanda Schein several awards around the United States. Young Olamide has identified second half of 2017 as a period where his filming exploits would be focused more on commercials and music videos.

Even with his young burgeoning career, Olamide, whose father is a communication guru in Nigeria, has worked with top names in the industry such as Kevin Hart, Snoop Dogg, Nick Cannon, Tommy Maddox-Upshaw, The Game, Terrence Howard, Jeremih, Bob The Drag Queen and others.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that most recently, Olamide alongside his colleague, Francis Ukpolo, produced Adekunle Gold’s summer tune Call on Me.
