A sociopolitical group, W2W4DA, has cleared the air that nobody is imposing Senator Adeola Yayi on. Ogun West Senatorial District.

Making the clarification, Dr. Iziaq Kunle Salako, Central Chairman, said, “I have just read a story published in a newspaper(Guardian on Sunday today at page 5) with the above title based on a claim by the reporter that one Chief Sikiru Adegbite allegedly spoke to him  on behalf of a caucus meeting of Ogun West Stakeholders Forum held in Ilaro”.

“The Ogun West Stakeholders Forum is an organization of Ogun West elites cutting across the private and public sector, who voluntarily came together on 8th September, 2018, to work for the socio-political development of Ogun West Senatorial District of Ogun State. The organization, during its short life span, has organised several programmes and made several interventions to promote Ogun West cause. These include the recently held Ogun West Engage 2 to discuss the political future of Ogun West and to also honour prominent indigenes of the district.”

“As a foundation member of OWESF, I was for about 2 years the Coordinator of the organization and who has remained very active in every respect. I am not aware of a caucus meeting of OWESF held in Ilaro, where the said decision emanated from. The name Chief Sikiru Adegbite is also not known to me as a member of OWESF. I have never seen such a person participate in any of our meetings nor contribute a dime to any of our programmes. I have also made enquiry from the Chairman of OWESF, Dr. Yemisi Bamgbose and the Secretary, Prof. Jendele Hungbo. Both of them denied knowledge of any such meeting referenced by the reporter and the personality purportedly speaking on behalf of OWESF.”

“The said Chief Sikiru Adegbite is therefore, using the name of OWESF illegally and without doubt doing a hatchet job for a political camp, which is obviously threatened by the huge acceptance that Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola is enjoying among Ogun West people – politicians and non politicians alike.”

“As the Central Chairman of the W2W4DA Convergence, which has so far held in 4 Local Government areas of Ogun West, where the mass of Ogun West people called on Senator Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, to enter the Ogun West Senatorial contest for the 2023 election. I make bold to say that the pretentious Chief Adegbite must be suffering from some form of illusion to allege that Senator Adeola is being imposed on Ogun West by Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the National Leader of the APC.”

“It is obvious that the political camp that Chief Adegbite is working for is in serious anguish and cannot come to terms with the fact that their principal is not the centre of political attention of Ogun West this time around hence the resort to blackmail, threat and propaganda.”

“The W2W4DA Convergence is a grassroots programme endorsed by not less than 80% of the political leadership of Ogun West within the APC with most of the leaders also openly participating and endorsing the resolutions of the convergence. Our foremost elders like Pa Olu Agemo, Alhaji Bisiriyu Popoola, Pa Ganiu Adesokan, Chief Samuel Ayedogbon, Hon. Waliu Taiwo, Chief M. A. Obanla, Chief Samuel Elegbede, Chief Olawale Bankole, Chief Rotimi Oderinde, Chief Amos Iroko, Chief M. A. Adeleke, Chief Dele Oderinde, Chief Daniel Adejobi, Rtd. Major Emmanuel Olubiyi, Hon. Kamor Oduntan and the like not only endorsed the resolution of the Convergence, 99% of them were physically present to witness the event in their Local Government. 1 elected house of Representatives member, 3 elected council Chairmen, 5 elected house of Assembly members, not less than 38 councillors, majority of past and present political office holders in the 4 Local Governments of Ogun West were present at the convergence. In all, a total of 88 Ogun West APC Elders and leaders in Yewa North, Imeko-Afon, Ipokia and Ado-Odo/Ota signed the Communique at the end of the Convergence in the 4 Local Government on behalf not less than 10,000 participants. It is expected that when the grand finale of the Convergence takes place soon at Ilaro, the Senatorial headquarter of Ogun West, this figures will be more than double. If that’s what this Chief Adegbite and his sponsors is calling an imposition they must be suffering from a psychological trauma that alienate them from reality.”

“The movement to change the political trajectory of Ogun West has started. It is a moving train that is poise to do it differently to achieve a result different from the past political failures by Ogun West. The movement will not allow any qualified Ogun West indigenes to be shut out from the process on the basis of petty blackmail, propanganda or some messianic feeling by anybody. Let’s everybody who wants to contest to represent Ogun West at the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria from June 2023 under the APC subject him or herself to the party process and let the best candidate emerge. Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola is a bonafide son of Ogun West, who is fully qualified under the constitution of Nigeria and the electoral act to participate in the selection process of APC. We will not allow him to be shut out.”
