NRC District Manager, Oche Gets Human Rights Award
YUSUF MUHAMMED

What differentiates a hardworking, efficient and loyal worker in life remains the level of commitment and dedication to duty of such a person. In different sectors of Nigerian Economy, most especially the civil service, it is somehow difficult to find a very dedicated worker whose passion for his job is legendary. So, for an organisation like the human rights body, that is very hard to satisfy due to the extreme taste and preference that exists in its rules, to have bestowed an accolade on a civil servant is tantamount to rarity.
However, the human rights body cannot just ignore the superlative performance and job loyalty of Engr. Jerry Oche, the District Manager of Nigerian Railways Corporation (NRC).
The man has, with his recent recognition and appreciation by the Human Rights Advocacy of Nigeria (HRAN), proven to all Nigerians that there are hidden talents in all arms of the civil service in the country.
HRAN honoured Engr. Oche with an Award of Excellence in Nation and Community Service. It was indeed a moment of joy, elevation and sober reflections on the journey so far at the Nigerian Railways Corporation (NRC) by the indefatigable, hardworking, resilience and very loyal staff of the transport arm of the nation.
Speaking at the presentation of the award, the National President of HRAN, Comrade Yusuf Muhammed, the Human Rights Body, unknowingly to Engr. Jerry Oche, has been following his activities in recent times and found him worthy of being awarded as he has brought sanity to the Nigerian Railways Corporation with his unique and commendable approach to duties without leaving room for mediocrity and laziness. Comrade Muhammed then urged Engr. Jerry Oche to keep up the good job.
“We have been following the activities of the Nigerian Railways Corporation, Lagos District and discovered that since the arrival of Engr. Jerry Oche, there has been tremendous change and we want to use this occassion to urge him to continue the good job” Comrade Yusuf explained.
Award recipient, Engr. Jerry Oche, in his vote of thanks, applauded Comrade Yusuf and members of the human rights body for the honour adding that it is rare for the Human Rights Body, HRAN, to honour a civil servant especially a ministry like the Nigerian Railways Corporation, where the citizens do not appreciate their work. He therefore used the opportunity to pledge continuity in his dedication and loyalty to duties. Engr. Jerry Oche was quoted at saying that he dedicated the award to all the staff of the Railways Corporation because without them there is nothing he can do.
Present to honour one of their own at the event were Mr. Adedeji Adewale (DS&TE), Mr. Austin Anieze Amaechi (DE), Mrs. B.I Ohaegbu (District Internal Auditor), Eng. Austin I.M. Arisa (MEEDC), Mr. Christain Aondorer Mazda (DS), End. Adedeji (DST) and Mrs. Adesanya, who represented Khadijah Aroyewun Adekomaiya the District Public Relations Officer (DPRO).
