NTDA Rehabilitates Hakeem Dickson, Fola Osibo Junctions In Lekki

The New Towns Development Authority (NTDA), has commenced the rehabilitation of failed portions of Hakeem Dickson and Fola Osibo Junctions in Lekki Peninsula Scheme I, in order to give respite to the residents in the Estate, as well as motorists plying the area.

According to the Acting General Manager, New Towns Development Authority, Tpl. Olakunle John Aboyeji, the rehabilitation became necessary because of the deplorable state of the roads and the attendant traffic snarl in the area.

The General Manager explained that one of the statutory functions of the Agency is the provision and maintenance of infrastructure within all government schemes in the five divisions of the State, noting that the rehabilitation of the failed portions of the junction will also help to mitigate the effect of flooding within the Estate.

Aboyeji said that the Authority has awarded the construction of some new roads, rehabilitation of others, as well as the provision of infrastructure in government Schemes to extend dividends of democracy to residents as promised by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in fulfilment of the T.H.E.M.E.S agenda.

He urged residents of Lekki Scheme I to always ensure that all government infrastructure within their vicinity are adequately protected through proper usage of projects delivered, prevention of road obstruction with construction materials and avoidance of the blockage of drainages, which leads to the overflow of water onto the roads, thereby causing flooding and traffic congestion.

While charging the contractor of the projects, Messrs Alkaisar Construction Company Limited, to deliver within the stipulated completion period of 16 weeks, Aboyeji implored them not to compromise the quality of the work but ensure the provision of projects that will stand the test of time.
