The Ikeja Local Government chapter of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), today hosted the NULGE State Administrative Council (SAC), Lagos State, on a familiarization and courtesy visit to the council.

The event, which took place at the Ikeja Local Government Main Hall on Monday, 10th November, 2025, had in attendance the State President of NULGE, Comrade Ogunfowora Sunday Sewanu, and other state executives. The President of NULGE Ikeja Chapter, Comrade Michael Adekunle Emiabata, led the local chapter members, who are staff of the council, to welcome the visiting team.

Representing the Council Manager, the Head of Human Resource and Administration, Comrade Jubril Aliu, appreciated the leadership of NULGE Lagos State for their continuous advocacy and support.

In his address, Comrade Ogunfowora commended the staff for their commitment to duty but urged them to further improve their discipline, punctuality, and work ethics, stressing that the state government frowns at reports of laxity among some local government workers. He also used the opportunity to table some staff-related requests and appealed to the chairman for favourable consideration.
Responding, the Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), expressed gratitude to the civil servants for their cooperation and service to the council. He, however, emphasized the need for greater dedication, particularly in the area of revenue generation, noting that sustainable growth and development depend largely on adequate financial resources.

In a heartwarming gesture that electrified the entire hall, Comrade Dauda announced an automatic increase in the staff Christmas bonus, a decision that was received with loud cheers and applause from all employees present.

The visit strengthened the bond between the council leadership and its workforce, reaffirming the Council Chairman’s unwavering commitment to staff welfare, productivity, and overall institutional excellence.
