Oba Akiolu, Oba Elegushi, KSA, Others For Late Baba Sala’ Symposium
All is set for a Symposium in honour of late comedian, Moses Olaiya Adejumo a.k.a Baba Sala being part of activities towards his burial next month.
The symposium, being the first among activities lined up towards the burial of the late comedian, dramatist, musician and actor, entertainer, is tagged “Genius Without Borders”.
Billed for the National Art Theatre Iganmu Lagos on November 28, the symposium will feature as speakers; Lawyer Tunji Bamishigbin and Professor Bakare Ojo-Rasaki of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, who will deliver papers on “The Role of Stage Play in a Nascent Democracy”.
The royal fathers of the day are Oba of Lagos, HRM Oba Rilwan Akiolu and the Elegushi of Ikateland, Oba Saheed Elegushi. Other notable figures expected at the event are Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, the All Progressives Congress Governorship candidate in Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, his People’s Democratic Party counterpart, Jimi Agbaje, Senator Solomon Adeola (YAYI), Senator Babafemi Ojudu, Prophet Isreal Ogundipe among others.
The symposium, which is being put together by Fullsteam Communications, will have as its Chief Host, King Sunny Ade. A brochure dedicated to the life and times of Baba Sala, a 30-minute documentary that relay individuals who Baba Sala had impacted their lives positively would be unveiled at the event.
As a means of encouraging Theatre Art students and others, there will be free shuttle buses from the campuses of University of Lagos, Lagos State University, and Caleb University, Lagos to the event venue.
Born on May 18, 1936, Baba Sala began his journey into stardom as a civil servant, a sanitary inspector. He combined his job as a sanitary inspector with a part-time teaching work and the daily thrift collection. His renowned activities in the world of entertainment saw many regarding him as the father of Nigerian comedy. He died on October 7, 2018 at the age of 82.
