As part of efforts to encourage and galvanise participation in the ongoing All Progressives Congress (APC) electronic membership registration (e-registration) exercise, Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa hosted constituents and party executives in his constituency office in Agege on Wednesday, January 14.

Speaker Obasa, the member representing Agege Constituency 1 since 2003, praised constituents for their support, loyalty, and active involvement in the exercise, adding that their enthusiasm for the party and all its activities is critical for its current success and longevity.

The e-registration exercise, he said, was crucial to strengthening the party and ensuring its cohesion and credibility. “We must register now and encourage more people to do so because it empowers us to build a more inclusive and formidable platform ahead of future elections.

Further, the Speaker passionately implored councillors and other elected officials to have regular engagements with Community Development Associations (CDA), landlord associations, religious leaders, market women, and trade associations, which he described as a veritable channel for information on community needs and government interventions.

Reputed for his firm belief in accessible governance and continuous engagement with the people, Speaker Obasa said, “We shouldn’t wait until election time before seeing our elected officials. Constant engagement will help us to know where the shoe pinches the people, and then we will be able to provide responsive leadership.”

He added, “Continuous interactions and engagements will foster harmonious coexistence, identify pressing issues early, and build mutual trust, creating an environment where people feel heard, valued, and involved in decision-making.”

The Speaker also advised councillors to continuously engage party leaders and ward executives for their political growth.

Addressing his excited supporters, the Speaker reaffirmed his resolve to sustain these engagements, saying, “Together, we will keep building a stronger and more united APC.”
