One of the sons of Nigeria’s former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, Olujonwo, on Monday said he had concluded plans aimed at training and empowering about 75,000 Nigerians.

The former President’s son, who said he had already discussed the plan with President Muhammadu Buhari, explained that the empowerment programme would be done in partnership with Silicon Valley Technology.

Olujonwo told journalists that the empowerment programme entails training 2,000 Nigerians per state, including the Federal Capital Territory. He said the programme was targeted at developing an independent trading and investment platform.

The younger Obasanjo said that the training which would last for five weeks would feature different fields such as Information Communication Technology, robotics and agriculture.

“Mr. President believes in entrepreneurship and he knows entrepreneurial empowerment can revamp the GDP of our nation. We are partnering with Silicon Valley for an empowerment programme in Nigeria.

“The company at no cost will train about 2,000 Nigerians per state including the FCT in different fields like ICT, robotics, agriculture, agric technology and some others.

“This will create massive employment for the teeming youths in the country. I have met President Muhammadu Buhari and he has given his consent to the programme.

“You know that President Buhari is passionate about the youth, job creation and anything that will take Nigerians out of poverty.

“This programme which will kick off in two weeks has the potential of empowering and building the capacity of 75,000 Nigerians every five weeks.

By the end of the year, many Nigerians would have been employed in line with President Buhari’s commitment to job creation” Olujonwo Obasanjo said.
