The first vice president of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) Solomon Ogba has demanded the retraction of a false publication by platform-capitalpost.ng meant to tarnish his hard-earned image immediately.

In a statement signed by his Personal Assistant Billy Igodi, Ogba is also demanding a published apology from the media.

According to Igodi on January 26, 2022, “Capital Post Publishing Company Limited publishers of the online news platform-capitalpost.ng and Apex New Exclusive posted a news on its website and subsequently shared it in on the operanews platform and numerous online platforms with the title Breaking: EFCC arrest Solomon Ogba over multi-million dollar fraud.”

Said Igodi, “In their report, they stated that Chief Solomon Ogba was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over allegations of corruption. The publishers also reported that he was arrested in a hotel in Delta State while with two women.

“The report is totally false and maliciously published to smear the hard-earned reputation of Chief Ogba as a person of high integrity, efficient administrator and a person of high moral compass.”

Igodi said his principal was never arrested by the EFCC or any anti-graft agency on January 27, 2022, or any other time.

“Chief Ogba was also never seen or arrested with two women in a hotel room.”

He said Ogba has over the years served in various parastatals of government and international agencies and he has never been indicted, “Chief Ogba was Chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission, Delta State Commissioner of Sports, Commissioner Representing Delta State on the board of Niger Delta Development Commission, President, Athletic Federation of Nigeria, First Vice President, Nigeria Olympic Committee amongst other. In all his years of public service, Chief Ogba have never been investigated or tried for any issue bordering on corruption, fraud, misappropriation or any crime of any sort.”

Igodi said Ogba has briefed his lawyers to initiate the legal process to seek remedy against the publishers and their sponsors if they fail to retract the story and apologize publicly.
