Ogbunike: TMOG Hosts Youths’ Summit, Announces Empowerment & Scholarships

Committed to making Ogbunike town a better place, a group, Team Make Ogbunike Great, TMOG, has announced series of activities targeting the youths of the town, with the hope of empowering them and making them better citizens today and in the future.

The two-day event, which kicks off on December 30, 2021, has various segments like a summit, award ceremony, musicals, lectures and a walk, all of which will culminate in a grand event at Bellis World  Hotel, Nkwo Amawa-Ogbunike with a musical concert and cultural display.

In a statement made available to the media by the Coordinator of Ogbunike Youths Summit Comr Emma Mbamalu, the group stated:

 “As part of our commitment to make our motherland, Ogbunike, a better place, we are targeting our youths, because they are our future. The 2-day event comprises ‘Ogbunike Youths’ Summit and Awards’, where the youths will aggregate to share common goals and aspirations with deserving sons and daughters of the town getting honoured and recognized for exemplary attitudes. There will also be a lecture with the title:  ‘Illicit Drug Addiction: A Source of Insecurity’, which will be delivered by erudite scholar, Onunkwo Chuma Martins, on December 30 at Bellis World Hotel, Amawa Ogbunike. The sensitization walk, ‘Ogbunike-Walk-for-Life’ will hold on December 31, 2021”. 

“Ogbunike Youths Summit will draw the attention of our illustrious sons and daughters to deploy their resources in making the lives of our youths better by empowering them with skills. It is a packed event. There will be a lot of side attractions like live band, cultural displays, with which we hope to project our youths, who have creative abilities with opportunities. It is a holiday season, and we at TMOG, are seizing the opportunity to impact positively on our youths. TMOG is inviting everyone, who loves Ogbunike to come around and take part in what we are doing, as adequate arrangements have also been made for security at all our events. We hope to use it to usher in the New Year in the belief that it would bring Ogbunike, more peace, prosperity and progress.”

Supporting the group to realize its objectives, an illustrious son of Ogbunike, Dr. Harris Chuma-Odili,  Ogene Ogbunike, has announced fully-paid scholarships for 50 youths of Ogbunike to study Journalism, Online Media PR and Filmmaking at the prestigious Eastern Polytechnic, Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The recipients, according to TMOG, would be drawn from the youths who will participate at the event in December.
