Ogun 2019: I’m Very Much In The Race – Senator Yayi

Posted on December 24, 2017

Senator representing Lagos West, Solomon Olamilekan Adeola a.k.a Yayi has debunked a report that his ambition to contest in the governorship election in Ogun State next year has suffered a serious setback with the withdrawal of support from the National Leader of All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The Senator said the report was not only false but an imagination of enemies of progress who failed to realise that Yayi is gaining more popularity by the days as 2019 election draws closer.

The statement made available to the media through Chief Kayode Odunaro, his Media Adviser reads: “The attention of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola aka Yayi, the chairman of Senate Committee on Local Content and foremost governorship aspirant in the race for Ogun 2019, has been drawn to a FAKE news masquerading as “breaking news’ with the imbecilic title “ ‘Yayi’ Ogun Governorship Ambition Hits Rock as Tinubu withdraws Support” as planted on some social media platforms by a minor but desperate clique in awful trepidation of the wild fire popularity of Yayi in the Ogun state political landscape.

“In our usual mature and above board approach to politics of service, we are tempted to see this as once again the barking of a harmless dog that should be ignored by a man of the people with a mission for a sustainable inclusive participatory government in Ogun state come May 2019. We are however constrained to keep the record straight in the interest of majority of Ogun State indigenes desirous of good and accountable government as promised in the aspiration of Senator Adeola. Indeed we see a trend of grappling at straws by a clique that seeks all means including LIES as a way of excluding Yayi from the Ogun 2019 race.

“The last of such concocted lies comically described as a “Bombshell” was to the effect that Yayi was the chairman of House of Representatives Committee on Appropriation where he was able to pad budget and cream of several millions. The whole story attributed to an unknown ‘Alhaji’ fell flat into shameful gutters that its authors rightly belongs when the records shows that Senator Adeola was the Chairman of House of Representatives Committee on Public Accounts and NOT Appropriation. Indeed many discountenanced and discarded the story in its allegation of Yayi not impacting on constituents as Yayi impactful representation that led to winning four consecutive and progressive elections are public records that is fueling support for his aspiration in Ogun state.

“Having thus gotten a bloodied nose in a failed attempt to damped the daily rising popularity among the people of Ogun state, the laughable attempt is now to lie about Asiwaju Bola Tinubu withdrawing support for the aspiration of Yayi in Ogun 2019. Nothing could be farther than the truth. In the first place, Yayi, unlike some ungrateful beneficiaries of Asiwaju political mastery in their political careers, is a proud product of Asiwaju School of Politics that is grounded in grassroots politics and development. Secondly from all records in public domain, Asiwaju is a supporters of progressive people oriented politics and all its adherents that are associated with him usually receives his support anywhere in Nigeria. There is no record of Asiwaju withdrawing support for any of his star players in politics, particularly in the South West, in their aspirations.

“So it is only in the fecund, albeit suspected challenged mind of the writer to come up with the fable of Asiwaju withdrawing support for yayi’s aspiration in Ogun state. Indeed from the recent political developments and permutation towards 2019 at state, regional and national level, Asiwaju of the Universe will never contemplate such for one of his star political sons and loyalist.

“The rest of the distasteful write up are mere conjectures from anti democratic elements that finds democratic contest anathema to their selfish agenda of imposition on the good people of Ogun state.

“For the records, Senator Adeola is still in the race for Ogun 2019 and massive mobilization and consultations are daily going on across the length and breath of the 20 LGAs of the state. As he has always stated he will solely rely on God and the good people of Ogun state to realize his aspiration to serve the people.”
