Ogun 2027: Senator Adeola Commends Olota, Awori Obas

Posted on August 19, 2026

Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (APC, Ogun West), the consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State, has expressed profound appreciation to the Olota of Ota, Oba (Prof.) Abdulkabir Adeyemi Obalanlege, and members of the Awori Traditional Council for reaffirming their support for the emergence of an Ogun West indigene as the next governor of Ogun State in 2027.

Senator Adeola, who is Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, said the position of the traditional rulers reflects the longstanding aspiration of the people of Ogun West for equity, justice and fairness in the political leadership of the state.

His commendation followed the recent consultative visit of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) factional governorship candidate, Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu to the Olota of Ota and other Awori traditional rulers, during which the monarchs unequivocally restated their position that, after 50 years of the creation of Ogun State, the time had come for Ogun West to produce the next governor.

“I am delighted and profoundly grateful to His Royal Majesty, Oba Adeyemi and all members of the Awori Traditional Council for standing for the principle of equity, fair play and dignity of all sons and daughters of Ogun State. I admire the Olota of Ota for his regal, firm and polite delivery of the resolute position of the royalty and people of Ogun West to redress what is an injustice to the people of Ogun West in Ogun State in its over 50 years of the state’s existence” the senator stated.

Senator Adeola further stated that the royal father and Awori Obas stated position was not borne out of only their individual personal conviction but the result of consultation across all the traditional councils of Ogun State of Ijebu, Remo and Egba stressing that the outcome of their consultation is the resolution that in 2027, the slot for governorship of Ogun State should go to Yewa- Awori of the Ogun West Senatorial District.

“For the first time in the history of Ogun State, the people of Ogun West and their royalties are united and agreed on their support for me to be the governor of Ogun State under the banner of the ruling party, APC, on the basis of equity, justice and fair play as well as proven competence to deliver good governance for the people of Ogun State. I want to truly appreciate our royal fathers and the people of Ogun State across the three senatorial districts for taking a principled stand in the interest of a holistic and sustainable development of our dear state. I will not take the trust and confidence reposed in me for granted,” he stated appreciatively.

Recall that similar position was taken by the Olu Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle and the Yewa Traditional Council when the factional candidate paid a similar consultative meeting not too long ago.
