Posted on November 19, 2023

The Senator representing Ogun West in the Senate, Senator Solomon Adeola, has predicted that Ogun West Senatorial district of Ogun State will be a “small London” in four years’ time in terms of development based on some of his facilitated projects to complement the efforts of the state government under Prince Dapo Abiodun.

Delivering a goodwill message over the weekend at the 30th edition of the Federal Government endorsed Oronna Ilaro Festival at the Asade Agunloye Pavilion, Ilaro, the senator said in less than 6 months of his representation of the area he has attracted 78 capital projects that are currently under construction in the area of construction of school buildings, health care facilities, roads and bridges, town halls and police stations adding that these are in addition to his empowerment programme targeted at over 5000 constituents in training, grants and provision of equipment for self-employment.

The weeklong festival’s grand finale which was used to commission the multipurpose town hall at the pavilion facilitated by the senator, had in attendance the Secretary to Ogun State Government (SSG), Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, who represented the governor of the state and commissioned the project on behalf of the governor as well as royal fathers from Ogun West Senatorial District.

Senator Adeola commended the governor of the state, Prince Abiodun for his even developmental efforts across the length and breadth of the state, particularly in the area of infrastructure development stressing that his attraction for Federal Government project to Ogun West will complement the strides of the governor in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Governor Abiodun, through the SSG, commended Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland for re-branding the tourism festival not only for the promotion of culture and unity of the people but a veritable means of self-help community development projects adding that the state government under his watch will continue to bring needed development for the people of the state.

In his welcome address, Pharm Lekan Asunni, the chairman of Oronna Ilaro Festival Central Planning Committee, OIFCPC, commended the state government for its support for the festival as well as infrastructure development of the area with particular reference to Ilaro-Owode Road adding that like Oliver Twist, the government should come to the aid of communities in addressing the challenges of township roads.

The occasion was used by Oba Olugbenle to give meritorious awards for deserving sons and daughters and others for their contributions to the development of the area. Among the recipient of the awards were the Governor of the state, Prince Abiodun, Senator Adeola, and Chief Kayode Odunaro, who served as the chairman of OIFCPC for 4 years between 2012-2015.
