Ohanaeze: Igbo Group Rallies Support For Prof. George Obiozor

Posted on January 22, 2021

Ndigbo Leadership Watch, NLW, a socio-political think-tank dedicated to proffering solutions to issues affecting Igbos and leadership, has risen in support of the emergence of Prof. George Obiozor as the President General of Ohanaeze, urging all parties to sheathe their swords, so the Igbo nation can move forward at this crucial moment in history.

This call came following an emergency Executive Council meeting of the group which held virtually amongst stakeholders resident in America, Europe, Asia and Africa, where the group resolved that Prof. Obiozor should be supported by all Igbo sons and daughters so he could earnestly pursue his mission of repositioning the Igbo nation economically, socially and politically.

In a communiqué, signed by the key Excos of the group, led by Prince Ifeanyi Dike, a veteran Nollywood personality, NLW, recognised Prof Obiozor’s courage, integrity, influence and experience as cardinal factors that make him eminently qualified to lead the Igbo nation today.

It partially read: “Ndigbo Leadership Watch, NLW, as a leading group of Igbo intellectuals committed to monitoring leadership trends in Igbo land as a way of finding solutions to our socio-economic problems hereby resolve that all Igbos at home and abroad should support Prof. George Obiozor, who is eminently qualified, having been tested and confirmed at Local, National and international circles, where he has handled positions of influence, including the Nigerian Ambassador to the United States”.

“We recognise through surveys and polls that Obiozor’s candidacy, being an Imo State indigene, was appropriate as the position was zoned to Imo State. We know there are evil hands, who have jumped into the arena to cause disaffection and confusion in the collective march of the Igbos towards National glory and urge such characters to desists from such hatchet duties on behalf of our detractors as they would be exposed and held accountable for their misdeeds today and in the future. Let us as Igbos, form a formidable bond of unity under a man of tested courage, intelligence, integrity and influence in order to rewrite our history amongst other ethnic nationalities in Nigeria.”

Meanwhile, the leader of the group, Ifeanyi Dike, has urged Igbo youths to rise and ensure that Prof. Obiozor was not distracted from doing his job.

He said: “Igbo youths have a crucial role here. They must identify those working against our collective interest because of their selfish gains, so their present and future generations are made to pay for the lapses and betrayal of their parents”.
