Ohanaeze Ndigbo Shouldn’t Misinterpret Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi’s Comments – CAF

Posted on February 2, 2025
A group, Concerned Amaechi Friends (CAF), has said that Apex Igbo Socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, should not misinterprete comments made by former Governor of Rivers State, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.

In a statement on Sunday 2nd February, 2025, the group said, “We, the Concerned Amaechi Friends (CAF), wish to address the recent statement attributed to Ohanaeze Ndigbo, labeling the remarks made by His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, CON, as “reckless.” It is imperative to clarify the context and intent behind Amaechi’s comments to prevent any misinterpretation”.
“Rt. Hon. Amaechi, a distinguished statesman and former Governor of Rivers State, has consistently demonstrated a commitment to national unity and constructive discourse. His recent comments concerning President Bola Ahmed Tinubu were made within the framework of fostering transparent and open dialogue, which is essential in a democratic society.”
“It is important to note that public figures have a responsibility to engage in discussions that promote accountability and good governance. Amaechi’s observations were neither personal attacks nor baseless criticisms; rather, they were intended to encourage introspection and improvement within our political landscape.”
“We acknowledge and respect Ohanaeze Ndigbo’s role as a prominent socio-cultural organization representing Igbo interests. However, we believe that labeling Amaechi’s comments as “reckless” without a thorough understanding of his perspective does a disservice to the principles of free speech and healthy debate.”
“In the spirit of unity and progress, we urge all stakeholders to approach such discussions with an open mind and a willingness to understand differing viewpoints. Constructive criticism should be met with thoughtful consideration, not hasty condemnation.”
“Rt. Hon. Amaechi remains committed to the advancement of Nigeria and will continue to contribute positively to national discourse. We call on Ohanaeze Ndigbo and other concerned parties to engage in meaningful dialogue that prioritizes the nation’s collective interest over individual disagreements” CAF stared.
