Ojodu LCDA Chairman Leads Rescue Efforts Following Building Collapse In Ojodu Berger

A tragic building collapse occurred early Saturday at 10, Oremeta Street, Ojodu Berger, at a structure housing the Equal Rights Restaurant.

 

Several individuals were trapped beneath the rubble, prompting swift intervention by emergency services.

The Executive Chairman of Ojodu LCDA, Lagos State, Hon. Segun Odunmbaku, promptly arrived at the scene and took charge of rescue operations alongside key agencies including LASEMA, LABSCA, LASAMBUS and LSPWC.

 

16 individuals were successfully pulled from the debris and rushed to Royan Hospital and LASUTH for urgent medical attention while four victims unfortunately died.

Hon. Odunmbaku also visited the hospitals to ensure the rescued victims received appropriate care and support while commiserating with families of the dead.

 

Commending the Lagos State Government, its agencies and rescue teams, Hon. Odunmbaku lauded their courage and commitment, assuring residents that the council would not rest until the last person is rescued.

“The safety of our people is paramount,” he emphasized.

 

Structural engineers from LABSCA are currently investigating the cause of the collapse to determine any building violations. Meanwhile, security operatives have cordoned off the area to protect both residents and responders.

 

Rescue operations are ngoing as the community anxiously awaits further developments. The council has pledged continuous updates and unwavering support for affected families during this difficult time.
