Posted on October 14, 2024

The Hon Segun Odunmbaku’s administration at Ojodu LCDA, Lagos State, has embarked on a significant sanitation and drainage desilting exercise along Oremeta and Obafalabi Streets.

This initiative is part of the council’s proactive measures to mitigate flooding and promote a cleaner, healthier environment by clearing blocked drains and in removing waste that obstructs water flow.

Spearheaded by the Supervisor for Environment, Hon. Olawale Abdulsalam and Councillor for Ward F, Hon. Olumide Akinade, the exercise witnessed active participation from community and youth leaders who braved the rainy weather to ensure its success.

Hon. Abdulsalam reiterated the LCDA’s commitment to fostering a sustainable environment, urging residents to desist from dumping refuse in drainage systems.

Hon. Akinade also emphasized the importance of regular sanitation, warning against illegal waste disposal and encouraging community cooperation.

The exercise, which will extend to all six wards in Ojodu LCDA, aligns with the council’s goal of ensuring flood-free communities and supports the Lagos State government’s broader environmental sustainability agenda.
