Old Seminarians Association Of Nigeria Holds Inaugural Meeting In Lagos

The Lagos Branch of the Old Seminarians Association of Nigeria (OSAN) convened its maiden online meeting on Sunday, 3rd May, 2026, signaling the commencement of structured activities in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports as was disclosed by the Lagos branch President and Secretary, Mr. Emeka Duru and Mr. Tochi Ugo respectively in Lagos.
The meeting, attended by former students of Minor and Major Seminaries from across the Federation, focused on establishing the Branch’s operational framework, membership criteria, and strategic objectives.
The Branch President, Mr. Emeka Duru, in his remarks, stated that OSAN Lagos seeks to serve as a unifying platform for ex-seminarians to foster fraternity, professional networking, and the advancement of ethical values derived from seminary formation.
He observed that a significant number of former seminarians are currently contributing to national development in Lagos across diverse sectors including the judiciary, academia, healthcare, media, commerce, and governance.
The Branch resolved to undertake a comprehensive membership registration exercise targeting all former seminarians resident in Lagos State, irrespective of present religious affiliation or professional vocation.
Consequently, an Inauguration Planning Committee has been constituted and mandated to propose a date, venue, and programme of activities for the formal inauguration of the branch in due course.
The Lagos Branch reaffirmed its commitment to work in synergy with the OSAN National Executive Council, local ordinaries, and seminary alumni associations to ensure alignment with the Association’s constitution and ethos.
Among its proposed initiatives are the formation of professional guilds, institution of a quarterly intellectual forum, implementation of community development projects, and establishment of a welfare scheme for members.
Eligibility for membership extends to all persons who received formation in any recognized Catholic Minor or Major Seminary within or outside Nigeria, and who are currently resident in Lagos and its environs.
The Branch hereby extends an invitation to all eligible individuals to identify with the Association and participate in shaping its vision and programmes for the common good.
