Olorunda Council Boss Preaches Due Process

Doing things right has always been the slogan of one of the most resourceful and dynamic local government bosses, Hon. Samson Folorunsho Olatunde of Olorunda Local Council Development Area in the Badagry axis of Lagos State.
This value was again demonstrated during an internal sensitisation session held at the Council’s Secretariat.
The vivacious and highly spirited but humble Council Boss stressed the great need for all management staff, and political office holders in Olorunda LCDA to at all time see to following due processes towards accomplishing any targeted project, be it a huge contract or relatively lesser ones.

Speaking at the event was the pioneer Head – Public Procurement Agency in Lagos State and a World Bank project Consultant, Mr. Lawal Lateef Babajide, who admonished all in attendance to see to the application of the law on public procurement, awarding of contracts and other internal processes required in purchase and general supplies.
There were also queries on whether 20% or 30% of contracts awarded should be charged by the participants, of which the public procurement law was cited to flay the maximum of 20% except with a special executive approval by His Excellency (The Governor of the State). Several other queries were therefore attended to, which refocused all the management staff and the political class of the council on a resounding path in the public financial expenditures.

The Head of Administration of Olorunda LCDA, Mr. Dawodu M.O., through the Council Engineer, Engr. Seyin G.M gave a landmark remark after the programme while the Head of Procurement Unit Miss Saka Aina gave an appreciative speech. Miss Aina thanked the Executive Chairman, Leader of the legislative Arm, Hon.Idowu Olasunkanmi, all the legislators, Supervisors and the entire management staff for their cooperation and future support to follow due processes and prevent any external embarrassment.
At the end of the sensitisation programme, five different procurement statutory committees were also inaugurated, among which is the Tender Board Committee headed by the Executive Chairman, who is automatically the Local Govt Accounting officer.
