Notable Niger Delta socio-cultural group, the Orashi National Congress (ONC), has officially endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Dr. Mrs. Ipalibo Banigo for second tenure in office.
The endorsement was announced during the ONC Convention held on 26th April, 2026.
In a press statement issued at the end of the convention, the apex socio-cultural organization said the decision followed extensive consultations with stakeholders across the Orashi region, including community leaders, youths, and women groups from Ahoada East, Ahoada West, Abua/Odual, and Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Areas.
The Congress commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his leadership and ongoing national reforms, expressing confidence in his administration’s commitment to strengthening governance and economic development across Nigeria.
Similarly, the ONC praised Senator Banigo for what it described as her “outstanding contributions” to the development of Rivers West, highlighting her impact across the Orashi region.
Among her key achievements listed by the ONC were infrastructural and power interventions in Omoku, including the installation of transformers, as well as her legislative effort toward the establishment of a University of Agriculture in Abua/Odual.
The Congress also praised her role in the elevation of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Omoku, and her commitment to improving healthcare through medical outreach programmes and the upgrading of health facilities.
Additionally, the ONC acknowledged her empowerment initiatives, which included vocational training, financial support schemes, agricultural programmes, and youth development efforts that have benefited thousands of people in the district.
“As a result of proven performance, visible impact, and demonstrated leadership at both national and senatorial levels, the Orashi National Congress unanimously endorses President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Dr. Mrs. Ipalibo Banigo for second tenure,” the ONC stated.
The Congress also conferred on Senator Banigo the Award of “Best Senator in Representation – Rivers West Senatorial District” alongside a Certificate of Excellence in recognition of her service.
The ONC further called on the people of Rivers West to support her re-election, noting that continuity in her leadership would ensure sustained development and stronger representation, while also urging Nigerians to sustain their support for President Tinubu.
Responding on behalf of the Senator, her aide, Mr. Kochi Chuks, expressed appreciation to the Congress for the honour and endorsement. He assured that Senator Banigo remains committed to delivering quality representation and good governance to the people.
The convention featured colourful cultural displays by various women groups across the Orashi region, adding vibrancy and unity to the event.
The ONC reaffirmed its commitment to promoting good governance, equity, and inclusive development, stating that the endorsement reflects the collective will and confidence of the Orashi people in both President Tinubu’s leadership and Senator Banigo’s representation.
