ONC Honours Chief Dr Patricia Ogbonnaya As Patroness

Notable Niger Delta socio-cultural group, the Orashi National Congress (ONC), under the leadership of its President General, Amb Comrade Emeni Ibe (JP AP), has honoured High Chief Dr Patricia Wudhiga Ogbonnaya as Patroness to the Congress on during a courtesy visit on 21st April, 2026.

Amb. Ibe hinted that the recognition was due to her philanthropic nature and enormous contributions to the society. He lauded her avowed commitment to service, excellence, empowerment of youths and development of Ekpeye Ethnic Nationality, which continues to inspire hope among the people.

Presenting the certificate, Amb. Ibe described Dr. Ogbonnaya as a distinguished leader whose contributions and track record as a seasoned administrator coupled with dedication to human capital development as a public servant have positively impacted the Ekpeye Ethnic Nationality and the wider Orashi region.

He emphasized the ONC’s commitment to promoting peace, unity, and development through initiatives such as anti-cultism campaigns, pipeline protection advocacy, and community security engagements.

 

The ONC leadership also appealed for the inclusion of its members in Dr. Ogbonnaya’s empowerment programmes, reaffirming its dedication to collaborative efforts aimed at advancing the region.

In her acceptance speech, Dr. Ogbonnaya expressed gratitude to the Congress for the honour, noting that her emergence as Ada Orashi was a collective decision by women across the four local government areas of the region even before her coronation as Ada Ekpeye Logbo II by the late .

 

She highlighted the uniqueness of the Ada Ekpeye Logbo In-Council, describing it as a rare institution dedicated to women’s leadership and development. She further revealed that her empowerment initiatives have benefited over 200 persons across the Orashi region, reiterating her commitment to inclusive growth.

Dr. Ogbonnaya also commended for her support and encouragement, while calling for sustained unity among stakeholders to drive development in the
region.
