ONC Seeks Eze Ogba’s Royal Blessings For 2026 Orashi Peace, Unity And Security Summit

Posted on August 25, 2026

The Orashi National Congress, ONC, has sought the royal blessings and support of the Eze Ogba of Ogbaland, His Eminence Barr. Nwachukwu Nnam Obuoha-Obi III, OBA, ahead of the third edition of the Orashi Peace, Unity and Security Summit.

The delegation made the request during a courtesy visit to the monarch’s palace on Sunday, August 24, 2026.

The summit is scheduled for September 12, 2026, at the Civic Centre, Omoku.

Led by the President General of ONC, Amb. Emeni Ibe, the delegation said the organisation remains committed to promoting sustainable peace, security, national unity, justice and dialogue in the Orashi Region.

Amb. Ibe explained that ONC’s activities focus on tackling insecurity and social vices including cultism, kidnapping, youth restiveness, pipeline vandalisation and illegal oil bunkering, while also promoting peaceful coexistence and constructive engagement with security agencies.

He listed ONC’s interventions to include public enlightenment campaigns, security workshops, the Orashi Peace Walk, civil-military interface programmes, and advocacy against pipeline vandalisation, oil bunkering and kidnapping.

“The Orashi National Congress, as an independent socio-cultural umbrella organisation representing the people of the Orashi Region, remains committed to promoting sustainable peace, security, national unity, justice and dialogue,” Amb. Ibe said.

The ONC President General also raised concerns over the infrastructure deficit in the Orashi Region, particularly the alleged exclusion of the South-South and Orashi axis from major road projects despite the region’s contributions to national revenue through crude oil and gas production.

He said improved road infrastructure is critical to economic growth, security and the movement of people and goods across the region.

Amb. Ibe informed the palace that the 2026 summit had been moved from its earlier proposed location in Ahoada to the Civic Centre, Omoku.

He thanked the Eze Ogba for supporting the first and second editions of the summit and appealed for continued moral and financial backing for the forthcoming event. He also solicited the monarch’s acceptance to serve as Royal Father of the Day.

The delegation further commended the Eze Ogba for his contributions to peace and conflict resolution, cultural reforms, education and infrastructure advocacy across Ogbaland, the Orashi Region, Rivers State and the Niger Delta.

The Eze Ogba was unavoidably absent due to an emergency. Receiving the delegation on his behalf, Dr. Moses Adiela welcomed the ONC leadership and expressed appreciation for the visit.

Dr. Adiela praised the Orashi National Congress for its sustained commitment to peace, unity and development of the region.

He acknowledged the organisation’s efforts in promoting the interests and recognition of the Orashi people and urged the Congress to remain steadfast in its advocacy for peace, unity, development and security.

The visit underscores ONC’s continued engagement with traditional institutions and stakeholders to strengthen regional cooperation and advance the collective interests of the people of the Orashi Region.
