ONC Visits Dumo Lulu-Briggs, Seeks Stronger Partnership For Orashi Development

The Orashi National Congress (ONC), the apex socio-cultural organization representing the people of the Orashi region in Rivers State, has paid a courtesy visit to the Governorship Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), High Chief Hon. Dumo Lulu-Briggs, reaffirming its commitment to building strategic partnerships for the development of the region.
Leading the delegation in Port Harcourt on Friday, July 31, 2026, the President General of the Orashi National Congress, Ambassador Emeni Ibe, congratulated High Chief Lulu-Briggs on his emergence as the governorship flag bearer of the NDC and conveyed the goodwill of the people of Abua/Odual, Ahoada East, Ahoada West, and Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Areas.
Ambassador Ibe highlighted the mission and objectives of the Orashi National Congress, emphasizing its commitment to promoting peace, security, justice, national unity, youth empowerment, and sustainable development through advocacy and constructive engagement with government and security agencies.
As part of the visit, the ONC presented High Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs with a Certificate of Excellence in recognition of his outstanding leadership, philanthropy, entrepreneurship, and unwavering contributions to the development of Rivers State and the Niger Delta. The congress noted that the award was in appreciation of his humanitarian services, youth empowerment initiatives, economic development efforts, and commitment to good governance, the delegation used the opportunity of the visit to announce her forthcoming convention aim to promote, good governance, peace, unity, development and security etc in Orashi Region of Rivers State,

Responding, High Chief Hon. Dumo Lulu-Briggs expressed profound gratitude to the Orashi National Congress for the honour and recognition, describing the award as a motivation to continue serving the people with dedication and sincerity.
He commended the leadership of the congress for its unwavering commitment to peace, unity, and the development of the Orashi region, noting that the organization has continued to play a significant role in fostering stability and progress across the area.
The NDC governorship candidate assured the delegation of his willingness to maintain a cordial relationship with the Orashi National Congress, promising stronger collaboration in the years ahead to advance the development of the Orashi region. On the agitation for the creation of LGAs, he said if voted in to office as Governor he would work with the state assembly to create more development centers instead of LGA, as it would require the whole National Assembly to enforce the creation of more Government units be it State or LGA. On the forthcoming ONC Convention on the 15th of August 2026, since it is aimed at promoting peace, unity and good governance, he will support morally and otherwise.
According to him, through sustained partnership with the congress and other stakeholders, greater attention would be given to initiatives that promote infrastructure development, youth empowerment, economic growth, and inclusive governance for the benefit of the people of the Orashi region.
He thanked the delegation once again for the visit, endorsement, and recognition, expressing confidence that the relationship between the Orashi National Congress and his administration, by the grace of God, would yield lasting benefits for Rivers State if voted into power.
