Ooni Describes Albert Adeogun As An Outstanding Ambassador Of Ile-Ife

The Permanent Chairman of the Southern Nigerian Traditional Rulers Council (SNTRC), Arole Oodua Olofin Adimula and the Natural Head of the Oduduwa race worldwide, the Ooni of Ife, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, CFR, Ojaja II, has paid glowing tribute to former Member of the House of Representatives representing Ife Federal Constituency, Hon. Albert Abiodun Adeogun, describing him as an outstanding ambassador of Ile-Ife whose life was defined by selfless service, patriotism and an unwavering commitment to the development of his people.

Hon. Adeogun, who also served as the running mate to Governor Ademola Adeleke in the 2018 Osun State governorship election, passed away on Friday, July 24, 2026.

In a statement on Saturday by the Senior Media Officer, Ooni’s Palace, Sodiq Lawal on behalf of the Director of Media and Public Affairs, Ooni’s Palace, Otunba Moses Olafare, the Ooni who is also the Co-Chairman of the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria (NCTRN) expressed deep sadness over the demise of the former federal lawmaker, saying his passing has deprived Ile-Ife, Osun State and Nigeria of a respected leader who dedicated a significant part of his life to public service and democratic governance.

The Ooni noted that throughout his political career, the late Adeogun remained steadfast in his commitment to the welfare of his constituents, the promotion of good governance and the advancement of the collective aspirations of the people of Ife.

According to Ooni, Hon. Adeogun’s humility, accessibility and passion for service endeared him to many, while his contributions to the political and socio-economic development of Ile-Ife earned him a place in the hearts of his people.

“Hon. Albert Abiodun Adeogun was not only a distinguished public servant but also an outstanding ambassador of Ile-Ife whose life reflected dedication, courage and a genuine desire to uplift humanity. His invaluable contributions to the growth of our community and the progress of our nation will remain a source of inspiration for generations to come,” the Ooni stated.

The revered African monarch further described the late politician as a bridge builder who conducted himself with dignity and decorum across political divides, adding that his legacy of service and commitment to the ideals of democracy would continue to resonate beyond his lifetime.

The Ooni extended his heartfelt condolences to the immediate family of the deceased, the people of Ife Federal Constituency, political associates, friends and well-wishers, as well as the Government and people of Osun State, praying that the Almighty God grants the departed eternal rest and comforts all those affected by the painful loss.

“At this difficult moment, our thoughts and prayers are with his family and everyone grieving his transition. May the Almighty Olodumare grant them the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss and repose the soul of our departed son in perfect peace,” the Ooni prayed.
