Ooni Installs Dr Afolashade Shona As Yeye Bobajiro Oodua 

The Arole Oduduwa, Olofin Adimula, Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, CFR, Ojaja II, on Sunday installed Dr. Afolashade Shona as the Yeye Bobajiro Oodua in recognition of her contributions to humanity and the upliftment of the less privileged.

The ceremony held at the Ile Oodua Palace, Ile-Ife, Osun State, drew a distinguished gathering of eminent personalities, including traditional rulers, captains of industry, Nollywood stars, business magnates, and notable figures from within and outside Nigeria.

The ancient palace was aglow with colour, cultural splendour, and royal pageantry as drummers, dancers, and cultural troupes entertained guests amid cheers and chants celebrating the honour bestowed on Dr. Shona.

Speaking during the ceremony, the Ooni who doubles as Co-Chairman of the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria (NCTRN) described Dr. Shona as a woman of compassion and integrity who has demonstrated uncommon dedication to the welfare of others.

“This distinguished woman has truly demonstrated an exceptional commitment to humanity. Her consistent efforts towards the welfare of the less privileged have not gone unnoticed. I have watched her works with admiration, the compassion, the generosity, and the genuine love she extends to those in need.

“In recognition of her selfless service and positive impact on society, I deemed it fit to honour her with this chieftaincy title. It is my prayer that this recognition will further inspire her to continue her good works. Those whose lives you have touched and lifted are the true testimonies of your kindness. You are a shining example of womanhood and leadership. May the Almighty Olodumare continue to bless you, strengthen you, and multiply your grace,” Ooni Ogunwusi said.

In her remarks, Dr. Afolashade Shona expressed profound appreciation to the Ooni for the honour, pledging to remain committed to humanitarian causes and to continue supporting initiatives that promote unity, peace, and empowerment among the people.
