Members of local vigilante, Odua Peoples Congress, OPC, (Ganiyu Adams faction) in Ejigbo Local Council Development Area, Lagos, mounted surveillance and deployed their men to prevent #EndSARS agitators from burning down the Police Station.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the group, led by Abbey Ogundare, in Ejigbo LCDA, deployed their members to the Station when the information spread that the protesters were planning to attack and burn the Station down as was done in some areas in the State.

The men assembled around the station to forestall such action considering the fact that the Station was just upgraded to standard, completed by the DPO, CSP Olabisi Okuwobi , before the Commissioner of Police commissioned it recently.

This was confirmed by the coordinator of the group, Gbenga Agunbiade a.k.a Soloko, who led his men to the Station to prevent any attack from protesters.

Agunbiade said that they had to come to compliment the efforts of the Police to ensure that nothing happened to the Station which was recently recommissioned.

He explained that his group had been assisting the Police in the area to combat crimes by providing intelligence and even arrest of criminals and hand over to the Police for prosecution.

He said that it was possible due to the fact that they were familiar with the environment and knew all the black spots in Ejigbo hence work with the Police in line with community policing.

He commended the DPO, CSP Olabisi Okuwobi, through whom Ejigbo Police Station was transformed and adequate security was provided for protection of lives and property in the area.

The members of the group were in and around the station by the time P.M.EXPRESS reporter left and they were said to have agreed to keep vigil and work until the situation becomes normal in the State.

Lagos State has witnessed violence following the killing of Police officers and burning of stations which highlighted the tensed atmosphere in the State.

The Governor imposed a 24-hour curfew in the State to bring the situation under control which was not certain yet due to spread of the violence.
