Operation Puff Adder Launched, Police Boss Orders Officers To Deal Decisively With Criminals

The Nigeria Police Force have intensified efforts to minimize the activities of criminals in Lagos by launching ‘Operation Puff Adder’ set up by the Inspector General of Police and directed officers to deal decisively with criminals.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the launching took place on Thursday at the State Police Command in Ikeja, Lagos, by the Commissioner of Police, CP Zubairu Muazu.

The officers were drawn from Police Mobile, Tactical Unit, Criminal Intelligence Bureau, Criminal Investigation Department, Rapid Response Squad, Taskforce and conventional police.
CP Muazu said it was another milestone in the history of policing in the State with renewed vigour and determination of the Command to tackle the security challenges confronting the State. He explained that of great concern were the cases of cultism, traffic robbers, youth gangsterism and murder.

“We are today launching a special operation introduced by the acting Inspector General of police, IGP Adamu Abubakar, code named Operation Puff Adder, aimed at dominating and reclaiming the public space from the heinous criminal elements that are bent on threatening the nation’s internal security” he said.

CP Muazu said the Police were taking the battle to the door steps of the criminals and Lagosians have rights to a more peaceful and orderly state and with the support of the people of Lagos, the police will get rid of the criminal elements. He said that the officers were charged to ensure zero tolerance to all forms of criminality and deal decisively with criminals in the State.
However, he urged the officers to operate within the ambits of the law and must respect the fundamental human rights of the citizens.

The officers displayed the show of their preparedness by displaying some tactical training with several songs at the Command where the operation was launched.
