The President General of the Orashi National Congress, Ambassador Emeni Ibe, on Thursday led a high-powered delegation of the Congress on a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of Ahoada East Local Government Area, Hon. Solomon Ochoma Abuba, in Ahoada Town.

In his address, Amb. Emeni Ibe described the visit as historic, noting that the Orashi Region—comprising Abua/Odual, Ahoada East, Ahoada West, and Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni LGAs—remains united in acknowledging and appreciating the developmental strides of the Chairman within his short stay in office.

The Congress commended Hon. Abuba’s administration for significant improvements in security, enhanced electricity supply, and the successful execution of a free medical outreach across the 13 wards of the LGA. According to Amb. Ibe, Ahoada East has become safer and more stable under the Chairman’s leadership, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He listed key areas of commitment for the Congress, including campaigns against pipeline vandalism, illegal bunkering, cultism, and advocacy for the creation of more LGAs and the long-demanded Orashi State. He further appealed for the Chairman’s support for the upcoming Flood Sensitization and Awareness Campaign in Ahoada Town, where Hon. Abuba is expected to serve as Chief Host.

In recognition of his service and contributions to the region, the Congress conferred on Hon. Abuba a Certificate of Patronship, granting him all rights and privileges as enshrined in the Congress constitution.

Responding, Hon. Solomon Ochoma Abuba expressed gratitude to the Congress for the honour, stating that their visit was a clear indication that his administration was on the right track.

“I am happy for this show of love. If I was not doing something right, I don’t think you would have been here,” he said. “I appreciate you as your servant.”

The Chairman emphasized the importance of security, noting that he has convened several security meetings and intends to collaborate closely with traditional rulers, security agencies, and youth bodies in combating crime.

On electricity, he explained that the council is subsidizing power to ease the burden on residents, describing improved daytime supply as a catalyst for economic growth in the LGA.

Hon. Abuba also disclosed that the council would soon commence administrative training for staff to enhance service delivery.

He highlighted the recently concluded free medical outreach, saying it was part of his campaign promises to cushion the hardship faced by residents. Over 2,000 persons benefited from the programme, which he assured will now hold quarterly.

Speaking on the recent flash floods, the Chairman said a committee has been set up to handle the matter, adding that the proposed Orashi Flood Awareness Campaign is timely and will receive the council’s full support.

He further confirmed receipt of flood relief materials from the state government, promising to personally supervise their distribution to ensure transparency and fairness.

Accepting his new role, Hon. Abuba said he received the patronship honour “in good faith” and pledged to work closely with the Congress for the progress of the Orashi Region.

The visit ended with warm expressions of solidarity and prayers for continued development across Ahoada East and the entire Orashi region.
