Orashi National Congress Hosts Peace, Unity, & Security Summit With Call For Collective Action

The Orashi National Congress, ONC, under the leadership of the President General, Hon. Ambassador Emeni Ibe, convened a significant summit on peace, unity, and security for the Orashi region.
The summit, held at Ahoada the capital of Orashi Region, saw participation from various dignitaries, including security officials, traditional rulers, community leaders and representatives from different societal sectors.
The ONC used the summit to emphasise the pivotal role of security in the development of any society. It was also a clarion call for all hands to be on deck towards ensuring peace, unity and security of the Orashi Region.
In his welcome address, Hon. Emeni Ibe emphasized the importance of the summit, highlighting the challenges faced by the Orashi Region, which comprises of Abua/Odual, Ahoada East, Ahoada West, and Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Areas.
He pointed out that since 2015, the region has experienced significant insecurity, resulting in the loss of over 10,000 lives. The President General equally used the opportunity afforded by the summit to condemn the divide and rule policies of multinationals operating in the area in total disregard of their corporate responsibilities in line with the Petroleum Industry Act.
The Special Guest of Honour, CP Tunji Disu, who was ably represented by the Area Commander of Ahoada, stated that he is pleased and happy with the commitment of the Orashi National Congress towards peace and security in the region. The Police boss reiterated that the doors of the Command remain open for interaction and collaboration. He pledged to continue to encourage the ONC in their drives and initiatives geared towards the security of lives and property in the region and the state.
The summit, which attracted different stakeholders, traditional rulers, women and youth groups including about 8 Divisional Police Officers, was also an opportunity for the ONC to distance the youths in the region from the planned protest. The group maintained their belief in dialogue and the need to give President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his team more time to rejig the economy and bring lasting solution to the problems plaguing the nation.

Ambassador Emeni Ibe extended immense appreciation to the Commissioner of Police, CP Tunji Disu, the Ahoada Area Commander, the Divisional Police Officers in the region, HRM Eze Ekpeye Logbo lll, Eze Akoh, Eze Nwe-Ula, women and youth leaders for their contributions to the success of the summit.
