There is a twist in the alleged N50b money laundering matter between Ordinary President of Berekeke family, Dr Isa Ahmed and Dr Robert Onyemaechi Uzu over FIRS request for N2.1b tax payment from on Ruzu Herbal Products company in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Dr Isa Ahmed has denied opening any account with Ruzu Company but admitted that Dr Uzu paid him commission for promoting his products while the partnership lasted.
While on the hand, Ordinary President’s lawyer, Barr. Uche Uwazuruonye, admitted that accounts were opened with Ruzu company’s name with him as sole signatory but disbursement of the money was from directives from Ordinary President, Dr Ahmed.
While the FIRS claimed that money moved into the account attracted N2.1b payable as tax and Barr.Uwazuruonye stated that the only money in the statement of the GTBANK was about N4m.
The contentious issue now is how did FIRS give Dr Uzu the bill of N2.1b as tax payable on money transactions moved from the account opened by Barr. Uwazuruonye?
In response to the letter dated 20th January, 2025, written to Ordinary President Dr. Isa Ahmed and his lawyer Barr. Uwazuruonye by Dr. Uzu Onyemaechi Roberts through his legal luminary Zhang Zi (SAN), the parties gave contradictory statements in denial of FIRS’s claim of N2bn tax unpaid and N50bn transactions carried out from the accounts in dispute.
Dr. Uzu Onyemaechi Roberts, CEO of Ruzu Herbal Products and Services Ltd, had raised alarm over the excessive amount purportedly owed FIRS from an account supposedly created for commission payments of herbal products sold by his former partner, Dr. Isa Ahmed.
Dr. Uzu gave out company documents for the creation of the account but was not a signatory to it; Barr. Uwazuruonye, who happens to be the Ordinary President’s lawyer, was a signatory to the account in dispute with directives from his principal (Dr. Isa Ahmed).
Both responses in reference to the letter of demand by Dr. Uzu’s lawyer, Zyang Zi (SAN), showed that there was an element of understanding between Dr. Ruzu, Ordinary President Dr. Isa Ahmed, and Barr. Uche Uwazuruonye at the time of the account creation specifically to pay commissions from Ruzu Herbal Products distributed using the Ordinary President’s platform.
However, while the Ordinary President denied knowing the contents of the account creation, Barr. Uche Uwazuruonye affirmed he was the signatory and intermediary in terms of what goes in and out of the account by his client’s directives.
Again, Barr. Uwazuruonye denied not being privy to the details of the relationship between Ordinary (Dr.) Isah Ahmed and Dr. Uzu Onyemaechi Roberts; he only knew Dr. Uzu when asked to address issues of trademark Ruzu products was facing, which was false as stated by Dr. Uzu.
Dr Uzu stated that there has never been a time trademark issues were discussed with Ordinary President or Barr. Uwazuruonye; the only relationship therein was the partnership and distributorship of Ruzu products.
Dr. Uzu further declined the meeting requested by Barr. Uwazuruonye supposedly for the aggrieved parties to meet on the basis that “this same meeting was suggested earlier on by Dr. Uzu’s former lawyer but was declined by Dr. Isa Ahmed and Barr. Uwazuruonye.
Barr. Uwazuruonye is insinuating that FIRS should be questioned about the purported amount generated amounting to N2bn tax unpaid from the account in dispute.
The responses by Barr. Uwazuruonye and Dr. Isa Ahmed were in denial that the account was ever used for personal transactions in contrast to the FIRS report; that only N4,000,000 was transacted in that account, which is the total commission Dr. Uzu paid so far before termination of contracts; that FIRS must have falsified tax owing if only N4,000,000 was ever transacted.
Dr. Uzu is saying that by calculations and period of partnership, commissions paid into the account in dispute are far above 4 million Naira; that both Barr. Uwazuruonye and Ordinary President Dr. Isa Ahmed were aware he was not a signatory to, which begs the question, when was the account created? For what purpose was the commission’s account created? And who are the beneficiaries of the said account?
Dr. Uzu emphasized that he knew nothing about the account; he out of trust gave out his details for the sake of commissions created; he will not pay tax for an account he didn’t benefit from while he promised to corroborate FIRS claims with Isa and Uche’s testament.
Dr. Uzu Onyemaechi Roberts has also, in reference to the online journalists, authorized to publish the issues between him and the Ordinary President stating that the online publications were necessary following the December 2024 broadcast made by Dr. Isa Ahmed using his Berekete platform to rubbish Ruzu products.
Dr. Isa Ahmed was the first to come on social media to disclaim the relationship, spilling falsehoods about how they met, bonded, and partnered.
Presently, the Ordinary President has made derogatory and threatening remarks during his live broadcast on Berekete Family on 3rd February, 2025, against a former staff member, one Ogidan Adewuyi Bayo, alleged to be the mole divulging information to Dr. Uzu.
The young man whom Dr. Uzu said has no hand or bearing in whatever information he’s been working with, made a concerning call that needs to be addressed, as the innocent cannot be threatened and alleged without evidence.
Information has it that after the live broadcast, Ordinary President put a call across to Ogidan’s family, threatening to jail their son, Bayo.
Dr. Uzu has warned that if anything happens to Ogidan, Dr. Isa Ahmed should be held responsible. He noted that the act of bullying by Dr. Isa is known and felt by his former staff, who have different stories of his maltreatment.
He explained that Bayo was one of his former members of staff, who suffered maltreatment despite his absolute loyalty and commitment to Dr. Isa Ahmed before he resigned to seek greener pastures. He was the videographer in charge of all Brekete programmes.
