A member of Lagos State Hose of Assembly and senatorial candidate of All Progressive Congress (APC), Hon Bayo Osinowo has announced the sum of N3.3 million as a prize money for the winners of Gold Cup tagged ‘Lagos East Unity Cup’ scheduled to kick off next month in designated centres in the state.

Osinowo, who is representing Kosofe Constituency 1 in the state’s House of Assembly met organizers recently and told them that the tourney would involve teams within Lagos East Senatorial District and charged the Local Organizing Committee led by Kemac Emina to invite teams that have football pedigree to take part in the competition packaged by Ask Sports Consults.

Osinowo, who doubles as cup donor, charged the organizers to give all participating teams equal chances in the tournament and revealed that the winners of this year’s edition would go home with the sum of NI million with a giant trophy, while the first runners-up would pocket N700,000 with a Trophy, while the third position would smile home with N500,000

According to the sponosor, fourth position would receive N300,000, while all the quarter finalists would get N100,000 each for reaching the last eight of the tournament.

Osinowo said he is sponsoring the tournament because of the passion he has for the round leather game, adding that the competition has no connection with his political campaign. He therefore wished all the participating teams all the best in their outings.

Osinowo, popularly known as Peperitto tasked the organizers, players and football fans to shun violence that can bring the tourney into disrepute during and after the game. He also urged the organizers to take disciplinary action on players, teams or fans who cause trouble during and after the game.

Speaking on preparation of the tournament, Chairman Organising Committee, Emina said more clubs have completed their registration forms, saying that more club owners have called him on phone about the competition.

“We are using Epe, Ikorodu and Gbagada as our designated centres for the competition. Presently, we are still expecting more clubs to submit their registration forms because we don’t have enough time for the late registration. We are likely to hold the draws ceremony next week because we are waiting for cup donor to fix a date for us,” he said.
