Posted on January 29, 2025
Osogbo residents under the aegis of Osogbo Restoration Movement (OREM) has applauded the Asiwaju Khamis Olatunde Badmus, the Chairman, Tuns Group of Companies over the provision of 200 Solar Lights and 10 Boreholes within the heart of Osun State Capital, describing Badmus as true son of Osogboland and father to all.
The group also stated that the gesture through the Asiwaju Musulumi of Yorubaland including Edo and Delta States, was unprecedented in the history of the ancient town, noting that Asiwaju Khamis Olatunde Badmus Foundation(AKOBF) through which the facilities were installed in Osogbo, has contributed significantly to the growth and development of Osun State vis a vis Nigeria.
OREM said that the gestures had brought succor to the good people of Osogboland.
It noted that AKOBF commenced the installation of the street solar lights with the aim of addressing the long-standing issue of epileptic supply of electricity in the ancient town of Osogbo, adding that it was ultimately to improving the quality of lives for all residents during the dark hours of the day and pure accessible drinking water in some Osogbo communities.
“The most commendable effort of AKOBF is how the foundation provided Boreholes to Osogbo Orisunbare Community and Oke Oroki Community, who had suffered an access to drinkable portable water since its existence. More communities who are the beneficiaries of these social amenities are Osun-Yita/Ababu, Oke-Oroki Community, Oke-Abesu, Oke-Popo/Idi-Omon, Kajola/Arẹsà, Dispensary Oke-baale, Orisunmibare Community, Akepe Jaleoyemi/Mofowurosere and host of others.
“The Osogbo residents who are also the beneficiaries show joy on how the solar lights are very effective to the great extent of curbing many villainous and criminal acts during dark hours; thereby contributing to the security measures in the society.  The project has enhanced good security and tackled socio-economic challenges that the residents were facing before now.”
While assuring other communities of this similar gesture soon, AKOBF is assuring Osogbo communities of adequate lighting and to portray Osogbo as a real State Capital of Osun State.
