Osun West Poll: APC Support Groups Move Campaign To Villages To Win Non-Indigenes’ Votes

Posted on July 2, 2017

Ahead of the bye election in Osun West Senatorial District scheduled for Saturday 8 July,2017, Coalition of APC Support Groups have begun mobilisation of non-indigenes to vote for the candidate of the ruling party, Mudasiru Oyetunde Hussein.

Though the main opposition, the candidate of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, Mr Ademola Adeleke, has vowed to stop Hussein’s ambition, the APC Support Groups told PM EXPRESS in an interview Sunday that Hussein, a one time senator of Osun West, has what it takes to win the election.

The Coalition of APC Support Groups is an amalgamation of all registered and certified support groups that worked for the success of APC in the 2015 general election. The National Executives of the Coalition were inaugurated by the National Chairman of the party, Chief John Oyegun in 2015

Comrade Yahaya Majeed, the leader of the Support Group in the southwest of Nigeria and former state executive member of APC in Osun in the company of  Hon. Bernard Ochepa, a member of the APC National Campaign Committee set up by the National Chairman, Oyegun, who is also a member of House of Representative from Benue state, predicted the victory of the party, adding that the Coalition, whose members are spread across the nook and crannies of the country, has begun mobilisation for the success of Hussein in the election.

The election has been described as the political war of southwest of 2017,while the Coalition, according to PM EXPRESS findings, has begun a campaign tagged ‘Stand Up and Win for APC’.

“We have taken the battle to villages and hamlets where all non indigenes are living across all the ten local governments in the senatorial district in Osun state.

”As foot soldiers of APC that work assiduously for the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015, we are here to show PDP that the cane we used to flog them in 2014 when our dear Governor of the people, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, won his re-election and 2015 when Buhari defeated Good luck Jonathan, is still very much available and more sharpened with pepper this time around.

”We have begun mobilisation of people, especially non-indigenes, for the election coming up on Saturday. We are not taken this election lightly because all eyes will be on the State of Osun. We want to ensure that the votes of our people bring Senator Hussein back to the seat he voluntarily and patriotically ceded in 2015. We saw Hussein a great party member, who is loyal to the party and its leadership. He had done it before, he was tested, he has the experience and we trust that he will do it again. These are the messages we want to send across to our people as we mobilise for the election,” he said.

Comrade Yahaya commended Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola for doing his best to hold the party as a united voice in Osun state, adding that the APC Support Groups would continue to support the good work of the governor, hence the mobilisation drive for Senator Hussein in the coming election in Osun West Senatorial District.
