Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has declared that the Lagos State Development Plan 2052 is a living document which will be used to turn numerous challenges of the state into opportunities that will take the state to the next level.

The 30 years Development Plan was unveiled during the closing ceremony of Ehingbeti Lagos Economic Summit 2022 held at the Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos on Wednesday.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, who was happy with the successful organisation of the Summit, told his audience who included captains of industries, diplomats, technocrats in various fields, traditional rulers and other stakeholders, that “our joy in Lagos is always 24/7 throughout the 365 days of the years. I am also happy that despite the hard times the world is passing through, Lagos remains home to everyone. I am happy to hear the spirit of audacity of hope in our younger generation during this Summit. Each time we fall, we always rise up to become great. That is why as a government, we decide not to cut corner, but continue to provide services to our ever increasing population.

“While putting together this Lagos State Development Plan 2025 document, we carry all stakeholders along, irrespective of where they belong, making it a document that will guide us in the next 30 years. This is a document that will be used to judge us at the end of this period.

“I am so much delighted that this is a document that will lead us to a Greater Lagos which is around the corner.

“This long term Development Plan (LSDP 2052) has been meticulously devised imbibing the best of all existing and prior high-level policy documents, transformation plans and development policies.

“Founded in strong research and ongoing realities, the LSDP 2052 is the framework our state needs to continue on the path of becoming Africa’s Model City, a global economic, and financial hub that is safe, secure, functional and productive.”

Governor Sanwo-Olu eulogised former Governor of the state, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu whose government started the Ehingbeti Lagos Economic Summit.

“This is the strong man who laid down the vision for us to build on till today. This has come to stay. Successive governments in the state have been able to execute most of the resolutions reached during this Summit over the year, indeed, over 95 percent of the resolutions executed.

“I am so happy that the 9th Ehingbeti Lagos Economic Summit has birthed a lot of agreement signings for us to tell the world that the Greater Lagos dream is achievable,” the governor said.

To the Deputy Governor, Mr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, who is the Chairman of Lagos State Development Plan 2052 Committee, “the LSDP 2052 provides the blueprint for the next 30 years to guide the evolution of all sectors of the economy, as well as public, private, and civil society. We must act now to continue to achieve the full potential of Lagos state, a task we are more than equal to if our efforts are concerted.”

Co-Chair of the Committee, who is also the state’s Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Mr. Samuel Egube noted that “as a planning and strategy document, the LSDP 2052 acts as a guide for all MDAs as they develop their policies strategies and initiatives, both on expenditures and revenue side. It clearly lays out measurable indicators, private and public sector players to work towards.

“We have constantly maintained and proven that Lagos State is the world’s gateway to Nigeria, and as such, it is our responsibility to ensure that the state represents the best this nation has to offer.”
