Over 300 Female Footballers Set For Asisat Oshoala Academy Scouting Trials

Posted on February 4, 2024

Asisat Oshoala Academy (AOA), spearheaded by Asisat Oshoala MON, Africa’s reigning African Female Footballer of the Year and record-holder for the most CAF Player of the Year awards, is thrilled to unveil its upcoming scouting trials.

Set to unfold on February 5, 7, and 9 at the Femi Gbajabiamila Mini stadium in Abalti Barracks, Ojuelegba in Surulere, Lagos, the trials will commence promptly at 1 pm.

In an endeavor to unearth and nurture exceptional talent, the academy anticipates an impressive turnout of over 300 aspiring female footballers from Lagos and the southwest region.

These trials present a golden opportunity for participants to vie for 15 coveted spots on the prestigious academy team.

“As the founder of Asisat Oshoala Academy, I am excited about the prospect of discovering and nurturing the next generation of female football stars.

“Our scouting trials are a testament to our commitment to shaping the future of women’s football in Nigeria,” says Asisat Oshoala, MON.

Established in 2021, Asisat Oshoala Academy has demonstrated unwavering dedication to influencing the landscape of women’s football in Nigeria.

Notably, the academy takes pride in producing Janet Seimeyeha Akekomorowei, the first player from an academy called up to play for the U20 national team.

Additionally, the academy facilitated the transfer of another player to Nasarawa Amazon FC.

With collaboration with global sportswear brand Nike and Women Win, Asisat Oshoala Academy envisions itself as a vital pipeline for emerging stars in the national youth female teams and, optimistically, the Super Falcons.

Janet Seimeyeha Akekomorowei, a standout talent from the academy, recently showcased her prowess for the U20 national team, earning participation in the FIFA U20 World Cup in Colombia and the upcoming All Africa Games.

Aligned with the academy’s commitment to providing platforms for talented young girls in Lagos to showcase their skills, the scouting trials also aim to unlock a world of possibilities through the transformative power of sports and education.

The trials are open for free entry, underscoring AOA and its partners’ dedication to democratizing access to the opportunities that sports and education offer for personal transformation.

Founded in 2021 by Asisat Oshoala, AOA is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of female football stars, providing opportunities for skill development, education, and empowerment in partnership with Nike and Women Win.
