The Executive Governor of the State of Osun, Mr. Governor Gboyega Oyetola has revealed the plans of his government to increase the state’s Internal Generated Revenue (IGR) from agriculture and Mining.
The State of Osun has been known as an agrarian state whose people are majorly dealing in agriculture and has been receiving very lowly monthly revenue from the federation accounts.
To put an end to the paucity of funds the state has been facing, the Governor told the gathering of eminent citizens of the state on Thursday during the Security Sensitisation Programme held at the Atlantic Conference Hall in Oshogbo that his adminstration will tap heavily on the added values agriculture and mining can offer.
P.M. EXPRESS reports that the programme, which had in attendance dignitaries such as the Ooni of lfe, Oba Adeyeye Eniitan Ogunwusi, other traditional rulers in the state, government functionaries, security executives, political leaders, market women, clerics and stakeholders in the security sector, was held to sensitise and tutor people on the need to be security conscious.

Governor Oyetola noted that the overall objective of the security meeting is to make mining valuable and to further improve on agriculture that will improve the fortune of the state and boost the IGR.
“We must not provide rooms for bandits. We must work together to secure our communities.
“We must provide adequate information to the security Heads whenever the needs arises,” the Governor said.
He stressed that his administration is totally committed to welfare of the people, hence, the renovation of all the 332 Primary Health Care Centres in the state.
The Governor, however, pledged to continue to demonstrate Omoluabi ethos of which the state of Osun is known for.
Meanwhile, security Heads in their separate remarks during the event noted that the State of Osun is the most peaceful state in the Federation called Nigeria. They highlighted some of the causes of insecurity, which include illegal mining, bandits and illegal engagements in hard drugs, but despite these, the state is still adjudged a peaceful state in the country.
They emphasised that the only way by which criminalities can be eradicated is to work together as a team to fish-out criminals from different towns and villages in the state. They requested traditional rulers and landlords to continuously spy on their tenants from time to time as a way of checking their behaviours.
The security Heads commended Governor Oyetola for his pro-activeness in the area of security.
