Oyo SWAN/Jerona U-13 Football/Athletics Competition Kicks Off

The maiden under thirteen sports fiesta organised by the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Oyo State chapter in conjunction with a private sports promotion outfit, Jerona Sports International will kick off tomorrow Tuesday 21 March 2023 with the screening of football players.

The screening exercise billed to hold at Ikolaba High School, Ikolaba GRA Ibadan, is aimed at preventing age cheat by ensuring that only players under the stipulated age of thirteen are selected to take part in the competition.

In a release, the Chairman of the competition’s Local Organising Committee, Mr Adewale Tijani said the exercise will be strict as no over-age player will be allowed to take part in the competition.

Tijani appealed to the participating teams to cooperate with the competition’s officials.

Eight private schools have registered for the football event of the sports meet tagged Oyo SWAN/Jerona Under 13 Football and Athletics Competition.

The schools which have registered for the football competition are Brightville College Ashi-Bodija, Bodija International College, Fontanna International High School as well as Generationext High School.

Others are Notable Naija Sports School Egbeda, Precious Academy, Kiddies Excel College and Adem Secondary School.

In the pairing of the teams, Brightville College was drawn against Kiddies Excel College, with Precious Academy paired against Notable Naija Sports.

Generationext was billed to slug it out against Fontanna International High School while Bodija International College was drawn against Adem Secondary School.

The LOC Chairman called on corporate bodies to come and sponsor the competition.

The preliminary of the football event will run through 21st to 24th of March 2023 at the Ikolaba High School in Ibadan.

The athletic events of the sports festival will be held alongside with the football final at a yet to be announced date.

Quarter final (21st March 2023)

Match 1: Brightville College vs Kiddies Excel College. 9.30am

Match 2: Precious Academy vs Notable Naija Sports. 11.00am

Match 3: Generationext vs Fontanna Intl high school 1.00pm

Match 4: Bodija Intl College vs Adem Sec schl. 3.00pm

Semi Finals (22nd March 2023)

Match 5: Winner Match 1 vs Winner Match 3 10.00am

Match 6: Winner Match 2 vs Winner Match 4 12.00pm.

Final

Winner Match 5 vs Winner Match 6
