PDP/APC: Are They Afraid or Confused?

It is only the success of a man that drives his enemies to the side lines and make them spectators and analysts of his real and imagined actions. This is true especially in Imo State where the opposition is almost non-existent, they come alive only for the purposes of sauntering around the political space, littering it with idle talks that benefits no one but their chequered image. What they have failed at is presumed by their leaders as the terminal point of growth, and when this is surpassed, they begin another round of ambivalent wait for the self-destruct of the APC. This is the cycle of rutherless opposition provided by the PDP across the country, it gets pettier as you descend the ladder.

Bringing it home to Ngor Okpala, you find our PDP goons talking about “the Imerienwe Declaration” as though it was made by the National Chairman of the PDP. Before it, was the tenure extension of APC party executives, a decision that has thrown the PDP into a state of utter confusion. They had desperately laid their landmines to wreck havoc in the APC. But, since the APC leadership carefully detonated the bombs, it has brought about series of explosions within the PDP that will, most likely usher them into 2019 – because they lack the capacity for internal stability. Many of them are already moving out in droves and flocking around the APC for a possible place in the party, for it has become manifest that the dream of a better Society is not realizable within the faulty instrumentation of the PDP.

Whatever happens within the APC is what you get when a party is in power and in the same stroke becomes an opposition unto itself. The PDP has shown more interest in who clinches the APC guber ticket in Imo State than the totality of their party’s wellbeing from the National down to the State and ward levels. This is another vote of no confidence on all the PDP aspirants who have been declared persona non grata by the very conduct of PDP supporters across the State. Making 2019 Imo State guber elections a battle that will be fought and won on a single front.

The intrigues are one-sided. Nothing is really happening in the PDP for now. All that they considered a huge disadvantage to the APC have become the talking point for a reinforced energy to do more for Ndi Imo. Come 2019, the PDP would painfully realize that they have only existed on the screens of people’s phones not in their hearts.
