PG Election: Hon. Ifeanyi Emegwa Sworn In As New President General Of Umuchu Town

It was an exciting moment at the Palace of His Royal Majesty, Igwe Godson Ezechukwu on 8th September, 2025, as the new President General of Umuchu town, Hon. Ifeanyi Emegwa (Equity), received royal blessings from the respect monarch after he was declared the winner and sworn in as the President General of the town. 

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that Hon. Ifeanyi Emegwa (Equity) defeated two other contestants, Professor Chimaihe Mbachu and Ogbuehi Raph Njirika, in a tensed and keenly contested electoral college election at the Umuchu Civil Center witnessed by the Anambra State Government officials.

 

While Equity polled the highest number of 64 votes, his closest rival Ogbuehi Raph Njirika scored 43 votes and Professor Mbachu scored 09 votes and the electoral committee declared Emegwa the winner and he was immediately sworn in.

 

He was consequently taken to the Palace for the royal blessings from the patriarch, Igwe Ezechukwu, who offered prayers to God for Equity and the new executives.

 

Other elected members of the executives, who were also sworn in included:

Mazi Frank Udoonu – Secretary,

Afam Ezechukwu – 1st Vice President,

Hon. Chinedu Ezekwike – 2nd Vice President,

Lotanna Ejezie – Fin. Sec.,

Mmaduabuchi Ezenwa – Asst Sec.,

Kelechi Ekezie – Treasurer,

Nze Okey Umewereaku – PRO, Ikechukwu Aghara – Provost.

 

A visibly elated Hon Ifeanyi Emegwa said he was grateful to God for the victory and commended the efforts of the immediate past administration led by Ozo Charles Ezenwabasili and the electoral committee for conducting a free and fair election.

 

Emegwa explained that his top priority is to foster unity and peace in Umuchu town and work closely with the Anambra State Government to attract development to the town. He stated that the election has come and gone and it is time to bring everyone together and work towards the progress of Umuchu.

 

The Man Hon. Ifeanyi Emegwa:

He was born on 8th June, 1986, attended Shettima Model Primary School, Gusau, Zamfara and Community Secondary School, Umuchu, where he got his primary and secondary school certificates respectively before he went for further studies.

Hon. Emegwa studied Accountancy at Yaba College of Technology, Lagos, Bachelor of Science (BSc) Accounting at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State

He has a Master of Science (MSc Inv) Accountancy, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. He is a member of Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria.

Hon. Ifeanyi Emegwa is a successful businessman and has many companies including: Talleque Ent Roofing Technology, Talleque Ent Farms and Talleque Ent Trading & Consulting Div.

 

Hon. Ifeanyi Emegwa has held several positions before he was elected as the President General of Umuchu town. He has as well received many leadership awards and he is happily married with children.
