Pharmaceutical Staff Docked Over Missing N2m Drugs

A 38-year old staff of the Superior Pharmaceutical company, Edward Egbanugo has been arrested and charged before a Lagos court for allegedly stealing the company’s drugs worth over N2million and bolted away.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at the company’s office located at Ajao estate, Lagos.
It was gathered that Egbanugo reportedly went to the warehouse where the drugs were parked and was stealing them in bits to the extent that he allegedly stole drugs worth that amount.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that he sold them to undisclosed buyers at give away price without the knowledge of the management.
Unknown to him, the alleged theft will eventually be known by the management.
However, the alleged theft was exposed when the company carried out a routine audit and discovered that drugs worth the amount was missing.
It was learnt that other staff at the company fingered him and told the management that Egbanugo should be asked to explain what happened to the drugs which he could not explain.
During investigation, it was discovered that Egbanugo was behind the missing drugs and was handed over to the police at Ajao Estate.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that at the Station, Egbanugo still denied but promised to refund the money to the company which gave reasonable suspicion to the police that he knew about the missing drugs.
He was charged before Isolo Magistrates court with stealing under the Criminal Code.
He pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Adedayo granted him bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Egbanugo was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 26 June 2017.
While, Egbanugo was being taken to the prison custody, he told our correspondent that he would do every thing possible to resolve the matter.
