Police Arrest 2 Suspects Over Gang-Rape of Girl, 14, By 6 Men

Justice may be coming the way of a 14-year old girl, who was allegedly gang-raped by 6 men in Orile Agege area of Lagos, following their arrest by the Police operatives from the Gender Section of SCIID Panti, Lagos.
The incident happened on Sunday at Alabua area in Orile Agege of Lagos State, where they reside.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the two suspects namely Kehinde Ogunremi, 19 and Adedeji Adetola, 25, were reportedly found culpable for conspiracy and rape of the victim with four others now at large.
The news of the alleged gang-rape of the victim went viral on the social media which prompted the Police to move into action, eventually arrested the suspects and transferred them to the SCIID, Panti, for further investigation.
In the course of investigation, the Police having found the suspects culpable, charged them before the Yaba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.
The Court did not take their plea after the prosecutor, Mr. Thomas, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice due to the nature of the matter.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. K.B. Ayeye, ordered them to be remanded in prison custody without an option of bail and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP for advice.
The matter was adjourned till 28th July, 2020, for report of the DPP advice to be ready.
The victim reportedly collapsed and was hospitalized in Lagos after she was allegedly gang-raped by the suspects, who took turns to penetrate her and damaged her private part in the process.
It was gathered that a party was held on the street on Sunday night and the victim went to see her sister before she was cornered, threatened by force to remove her pant and was raped to the extent that she fainted.She was then rushed to a nearby hospital, Molayo Hospital at Akinleye Street in the area, where doctors battled and saved her life. The victim was said to have been traumatized over the ugly incident and they were said to be mocking her in the area to the extent that she was being monitored in order not to commit suicide because of shame.A member of a group, known as Advocate for cyhildren and Vulnerable Persons Network, Comrade Adeyemi Akin-Akala, decried the ugly situation we found ourselves over such dastardly act in the society.He called for all and sundry to rise and fight against rape and other forms of social vices in the society and ensure that victims get justice.
