The police in Lagos have arrested two ladies, one Badmus Motunrayo, 23 and Victoria Okon, 28, over the death of another young lady, one Miss Blessing, who died due to complications during induced abortion.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the late Blessing got pregnant and informed her friend, Motunrayo, who took her to Victoria for an abortion in order to terminate the pregnancy.

The incident happened at Baseri Street in Ajegunle, Lagos where they reside.

It was gathered that an induced abortion was carried out on Blessing but along the line she had complications. She was rushed to an undisclosed hospital where she eventually died.
However, before Blessing died, she revealed what happened; how her pregnancy was forcefully terminated by the suspects which caused the complications and bleeding.
Her corpse was deposited at the mortuary for autopsy report. The matter was reported to the police in the area; the suspects were arrested and transferred to the SCIID, Panti-Yaba, for further investigation.
During investigation, the police found the suspects culpable and charged them before the Ebute Metta Magistrates court for conspiracy and murder.
The prosecutor, Inspector Bayo, informed the court that it was a case of murder and asked for the file to be sent to DPP for advice.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mr. O.O. Olatunji, did not take their plea and ordered the ladies to be remanded in prison custody. The court directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to DPP for advice.
It was gathered that if the defendants were found culpable by DPP, the matter will be transferred to the High Court for murder trial.
