The Police may have commenced clamp down on motorists, who use illegal tinted glass, covered number plates and siren  because of the attendant security risks for the residents in Akwa Ibom State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the Commissioner of Police, CP Waheed Ayilara, had earlier warned motorists against the use of Illegal tinted glasses and covered number plates and directed for clampdown of the offenders across the State.
This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Supol Timfon John, who confirmed the directive by the Police Boss.
Akwa Ibom State Police Command had issued a warning against the use of illegal tinted glass, siren and concealed number plates on vehicles.
He stated that the CP, Waheed Ayilara, has noted with dismay the rise in the use of these items on private and unauthorized vehicles.
“The use of tinted glass, siren and concealed number plates on vehicles constitutes a significant risk to public safety and order in the state. It makes it difficult for law enforcement officials to identify vehicles involved in criminal activities, thereby hindering their efforts to maintain a safe environment for Akwa Ibomites and residents in the State.”
“To ensure total compliance with regulations regarding tinted glass, use of siren and concealed number plates, all motorists plying public roads are urged to desist from this practice.”
He stated that the Akwa Ibom State Police Command is committed to enforcing the law and has directed a total clampdown on violators.
“We urge members of the public to comply with these regulations and work with law enforcement officials to maintain a safe environment for all. Together, we can make Akwa Ibom State a better place for everyone” CP Ayilara stated.
