Police Boss Blows Hot Over Underaged Cultists

The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Imohimi Edgal has raised alarm over the activities of underaged boys who got themselves initiated into cults as he warned parents to watch their children or get arrested.

CP Edgal raised the alarm and threatened to arrest any parent whose child was caught for involvement in cultism with the recent arrest of some secondary school boys whose ages were between 10 to 17. He said that the parents had the responsibility to guide and protect children under their care until they were adults and above 18. The police boss explained that parents have constitutional roles to take care of their children. He said that if they cannot protect and monitor their children and they joined any cult, that such parents will be seen to have committed criminal offence, would be arrested and prosecuted.

“If any parents did not monitor and protect their children and they follow bad people and join any cult group, such parents will be arrested and prosecuted for negligence” CP said.

Edgal stated this during the parade of over 300 suspected criminals and cultists arrested across the station during the raid on black spots by the police.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that though the underaged suspects were not paraded because of their ages, CP Edgal expressed worry over the activities of the boys who had been exposed to violent behaviours at such tender ages because of lack of parental care. He said that the parents had no excuses to give and that they should not only concentrate on payment of their children school fees and not monitor their activities at home and in the schools.

He said that on 24th April, 2018, the DPO of Ilupeju Division arrested four suspects and three of the suspects were students of Atunrase Senior Secondary School, Surulere while the other suspect was a student of Birch Freeman Junior Secondary School, Surulere, Lagos. He said that the teenage students confessed and mentioned their sponsor and leader, a non student, one Mr. Mayowa Rauf Oguntoye. The other suspects were Femi Awoniyi, 17, Dauda Sodiq, 15, Ajala Hafiz, 13 and Temilehin Balogun, 17.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspects were intercepted on their way to carry out a hit assignment. The police said that upon interrogation, they confessed that they were on their way to attack a rival cult group at Eko Boys High School, Mushin, Lagos.
He said that the suspects had been referred to the Gender Section of the Police Command where they will have sessions with the officers there and their fate will be determined further.
