CYRIACUS IZUEKWE

The operatives of FSARS have decimated a deadly cult group operating and terrorising traders at Ladipo Market in Mushin, Lagos.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that two of their leaders, Mr. Kosisochukwu Udoye, 31 and Okechukwu Simon have been arrested.
It was gathered that the members of the group were former thugs brought into the market during the crisis that engulfed the market leadership. When peace returned to the market after the crisis, they formed the group in order to terrorize the traders.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the group became so powerful to the extent that they were attacking the traders, robbing them with arms and some traders had lost their lives and properties. Sources at the market told P.M.EXPRESS that their activities became worrisome, the traders were no longer safe and they ran to FSARS and reported their nefarious activities in the market. Thus, the FSARS operatives combed the market and arrested two of their leaders while others escaped and now at large.
The two suspects were charged before Ikeja Magistrates court for causing breach of public peace and forming an unlawful society in the market.
They pleaded guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Peter Nwaogugwu did not oppose their bail condition.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. Y.O. Aje-Afunwa granted Udoye and Simon bail in the sum of N500,000 and 400,000 respectively with two sureties in like sum.
They were remanded in prison custody pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.
The matter was adjourned till 1 June, 2018 for mention.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that since the arrest and remand of the suspects, normalcy has returned to the market as traders confirmed that violence drastically reduced in the market. It was also gathered that despite the arrest of the suspects the police have intensified efforts to arrest other members of the gang said to be on the run.
