How Police Inspector Killed A Young Man At Drinking Joint

Facts have emerged on how a serving Police Inspector, Okechukwu Nwanefi, shot one Ikenna Ukachi dead during a squabble in a popular joint in Imo State.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at the joint in Umuokeh Community in Obowo Local Government area of Imo State.

It was gathered that Inspector Nwanefi, who was attached to Obowo Division in the area, went to the restaurant for an undisclosed mission when he had a minor disagreement with the Late Ukachi. It was not yet disclosed what actually caused the disagreement before he brought out his gun, shot Ukachi and escaped.

The victim was said to have bled profusely, fell down and died on the spot. When he was taken to the hospital, the doctor there only certified him dead.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in Imo State, Mr. Rabiu Ladodo, has declared Inspector Okechukwu Nwanefi wanted for allegedly killing the 25-year old, Ikenna Ukachi, in Umuokeh Community, Obowo Local Government Area of the state.

P.M.EXPRESS reports as was disclosed by CP Ladodo in a press release over the ugly incident. He said that Inspector Nwanefi shot the young man dead at a popular restaurant in the area on Monday over a minor argument and fled the area while abandoning his police work to an unknown place.

The killing triggered a massive outrage in the hitherto peaceful community. In a spontaneous reaction, the youth marched to Obowo Divisional Police Station and set it ablaze.

Speaking to newsmen on Wednesday in Owerri, Ladodo disclosed that the Police Command had commenced a manhunt for the killer cop. He therefore, advised the officer to willingly surrender himself to the Command because he would eventually be apprehended.
