Police Nabs Suspected Kidnappers After A N5million Bait

Police detectives at Area M Command, Idimu have tracked and arrested two suspected kidnappers while trying to obtain N5 million ransom from one Chief Ishra Filani through his daughter in Lagos.
The suspects were arrested and charged before a Lagos court from where they were remanded in prison custody.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the suspects had kidnapped Miss Omodunni Filani, the daughter of Chief Filani and threatened to kill her. They then forced the girl to call her father who they demanded a ransom of N5 million before she will be released.

The incident happened at 9, Lanre Towobola Close off Awori Street, Egbeda, Lagos.
Our correspondent gathered while the negotiation was going on, the Area Commander, ACP Augustine Akika got wind of the incident and dispatched his officers who eventually tracked and arrested the suspects.
They were taken to the Command where they were interrogated.
During interrogation, the police discovered that those who planned the act with the suspects were living in the same neighbourhood with the victim. These accomplices was said to have escaped when they got wind of the arrest of the suspects and are now at large.
They were charged before Magistrate’s court sitting in Ejigbo on Wednesday with Conspiracy, obtaining under threat and stealing under the Criminal Code.
They pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate. Mrs J.O.E Adeyemi granted them bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
They were remanded in prison custody pending when they will perfect their bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 13 March 2017.
